SOCIAL STUDIES

CW: Finished government stations and final text questions on Latin American governments.  You were to staple together the entire Station 8 with your other station papers and turn in to the Social Studies bin.

      Begin work on Latin American economics activity. We will continue in class tomorrow.

       Discussion on Latin America project.  The students voted to complete a Latin America ABC's book as a culminating activity for Latin America. You will work in pairs to complete this project. I expect to see equal shares of work from each person. The book is due on Thursday at the end of class. More details tomorrow.

HW: Work on economics activity as needed.

SCIENCE

CW: Finish severe weather with discussion, video of F-5 tornado that hit Parkersburg, Iowa last May.

       Discussion of Weather ABC's book. This is a performance task assignment that will count under the test category. We discussed requirements of the assignment in class today. Please read the assignment sheet. Download Weather ABC assignment sheet

NOTE: Parents, students will NOT receive a copy of the assignment sheet in class. We discussed the assignment today using the overhead projector. If you want your student to have a copy of the sheet, please download and print it at home.  The sheet will be on the overhead projector each day in class. This is an in-class assignment. I will expect students to be working on the assignment each day in class. If students want to type, they need to work on rough drafts, visuals in class and type at home. Students may NOT copy/print information from web site and paste into their book.  That is plagiarism!!!  All explanations need to be written in students' words.

                  Tickets went out today for Lost Mountain Chick-Fil-A night next Tuesday.  Take your coupon to the Chick-Fil-A on Dallas Highway next TUESDAY from 5-8 and a portion of the sales will go to Lost Mountain!

Turn in: We turned in the homework (not 2nd period), the quiz, test corrections (not 3rd period), 2-column notes (not 2nd period), and air masses semantic map (not 2nd period).  2nd period will turn in assignments tomorrow -- we ran out of time today.

CW: Group presentations preparation and performance -- Air masses and fronts

HW: Choose 5 places outside Georgia -- but still in the United States -- that you have visited or would like to visit.  Identify the air mass that affects each location.

       2 pts. BONUS: For each location, list what type of front the location is experiencing. You will need to look at a current (today) map of the United States. www.weather.com

NOTE: We will take a quiz on air masses and fronts tomorrow. Quizzes are a 100-point classwork assignment and are used as a learning check.

HOMEROOM: Our next team store will be held Friday, April 3. Please send donations all this week and early next week! We "sold" alot of stuff during the holiday party so we're definitely in need of donations.

SOCIAL STUDIES

CW: Continue work on Independence movements workbook pages.

      Begin chart of connections between personal independence and independence movements in Latin America. We will finish tomorrow.

HW: Workbook pages and Who Is profiles are due tomorrow.

SCIENCE

CW: Review of air masses semantic map.

      Begin small group presentations of air masses and fronts concepts. Each 3-person group was assigned a concept for a "mini-lesson". Possible presentations ideas include a TV commercial, short newscast, song/rap, poem, skit/scenario (ex: field trip).  You should discuss characteristics, movement, associated weather, etc. as it applies to your concept. You will get together briefly with your groups tomorrow to finalize the mini-lesson and be ready to present.

HW: 2-column notes on Air Masses and Fronts section is due tomorrow. Semantic maps due tomorrow.

NOTE: We had an educational trip to the National Science Teachers Association national convention -- with great classroom resources.  Ms. Tatum and Ms. Guillory even managed to get a picture with Bill Nye the Science Guy -- ask tomorrow and I'll show you the picture!!
