Relay for Life Pizza Night!

Eat dinner before the PTSA Meeting and Curriculum Night and help our LMMS Cancer Fighting Eagles reach our Relay goal for 2009!

 

 

When:  Monday, February 9, 2009

              5:30-6:45 p.m.

 

Where:  600 Commons

 

Cost:  $5 per order (2 slices of pizza –cheese or pepperoni, cookie and a drink)

 

What a deal!  A portion of each meal goes to support our Relay Team.

 

Please place reservation form and money (cash or check*) in school envelope and return to any black money collection box by Monday, February 2, 2009.

Remember you are to write examples of comparisons (similarities) or contrasts (differences) between the government and economy of Canada and the United States. 8 TOTAL ON EACH FLAG!! You are also to include 8 pictures on each side that go along with your information.

Download Journey to the Deep assignment sheetYou will have a FINAL work day tomorrow.  The performance task is due tomorrow at the end of class!! Be a time manager tonight.  If you don't feel you can get finished in 30 minutes tomorrow, then you must do some work tonight. Remember we're not looking for a report -- you're creating a persuasive travel brochure!

SOCIAL STUDIES

CW: Journal reflections on relationship between Canada and the United States. Discussion of journal answers. Shared Problems articles - Acid Rain and Pollution in the Great Lakes. Great Lakes organizer. Follow the directions on the organizer for what information to include in each Great Lake. Remember to also 1. Draw in the U.S./Canada border in the region. 2. 3 illustrations that represent Canada on the Canada side.  3. 3 illustrations that represent the United States on the U.S. side.

HW: Finish Gret Lakes organizer.

SCIENCE

CW: Discussion of Journey to the Deep performance Task. Some students began the project. We will continue work on the project on Monday. The due date is short this time. Projects will be due Tuesday before class or Tuesday during class depending on class work ethic.

      Finish Best Guess vocabulary on Ocean Floor topography. Download Best Guess vocabulary  Many students finished the organizer. I will grade for completion on Monday.

CW: Finish graphing and conclusion of salinity lab.

       Discuss Earth's Oceans and Characteristics of Ocean Water.

       Turn all three assignments in at the end of class.

CW: Chilkat blanket designs.  The designs look good hanging in the hallway. Each of you had a unique perspective of the Inuit culture.

HW: none. We will continue our population charting tomorrow.

** Test on Canada (people, population, relations with U.S., economics) next week.

SCIENCE

CW: Water quiz retake. We will average together your first quiz score and the retake score on groundwater, surface water, water distribution, and water conservation.

        Discussion of salinity lab data and conclusions.

       We also continued with our population charting, after we skipped a few days last week.  8,000 more Canadians in a week vs. 2 million more people worldwide. What a difference!

CW: Finish data collection for salinity lab. We will discuss and graph our results tomorrow.

       Work on ocean water review sheets: Earth's Oceans and Characteristics of Ocean Water.
