SOCIAL STUDIES

CW: Expert Explorers Task 1: Information table

       Expert Explorers Task 2: Map of voyage/region explored

Remember you'll looking for three maps so you have a variety of map "looks" to include in your power point.

REMINDER!!!  Many students had their flash drives with them today! Great! You were able to save your maps/visuals on the flash drive -- which is the only way to transfer the images between school and home.  If you do not have a flash drive, no problem. You saved images under your school file.

HW: Expert Explorers Task 1 due tomorrow!!!  We will be doing a completion check for the grade as I want you to keep your information table.

SCIENCE

CW: Mystery Rocks lab. Bring lab sheet to class tomorrow!

        Turn in rocks crosswords and rocks foldables. rocks crosswords were turned in for 1-day late credit (they were due at the beginning of class Monday). Rocks foldable can  be turned in tomorrow for one-day late credit. Remember all class assignments can be turned in up to 3 days late.

SOCIAL STUDIES

        Remember we discussed in class that we're interested in the big picture.  If you find absolute information in your research, write it down. It you find relative information, write it down. If you find "next best" information (no names of ship, but largest fleet ever to leave the country), write it down. The point is that we're researching -- we're discovering information -- we're investigating!!

HW: Task 1: Information table due Wednesday.

SCIENCE

CW: Students who completed the entire crossword packet (including the make-your-own) worked in pairs to complete each other's crossword puzzles.  Great work!!

        Students who did not complete the homework assignment worked on information foldables for the three types of rocks.

CW: Discussion of Expert Explorers project. Download explorers_assignment_sheet.doc We will complete the project over the next couple weeks -- in addition to various topics/assignments in class.

******* We talked in class about the convenience of using a flash/jump/USB portable drive so that students can transfer their Power Point files between home and school This is really the only convenient way to transfer information. Students are expected to work on the project when class time is given. This is not a strictly at-home project!!!  A basic 256 mb drive should do the trick. If you do not have a flash drive -- that's fine. You'll just work on the project at school only.

CW: Complete and turn in Rocks chart. I tried to make it around to every student to check the Rocks chart. If I did not make it to you, be sure to bring the Rocks chart to me on Monday! It is not late work. We WILL take a grade for the Rocks chart after Monday.

        Rocks crosswords.  There are four crossword puzzles - one for Igneous, Sedimentary, Metamorphic, and the SIM create-your-own. Use the completed puzzles as your guide, but do not copy! Remember to try your best to answer the clues. I should have had everyone call me Aunt Ms. Tanner today!  My sister delivered her second baby yesterday afternoon!! A beautiful little girl. I can't wait to meet her when I travel home this Christmas. It seems too far away!

HW: Rivers poem. Write a poem about the 5 rivers you have to remember for European Geography: Danube, Thames, Rhine, Po, Volga. The poem should talk about where the rivers start, where they end, what countries they flow through, lengths, etc...  The point is that you use the poem as a memory tool!!

CW: Discussion of Igneous rocks. We went over every question on the handout. The handout is to be used as notes for igneous rocks. Great study material!!
