Ch. 5 Section 2 -Forces

Students read Ch. 5 sect. 2 on balanced and unbalanced forces and answered questions on a worksheet. Complete this for homework. Students also watched a Bill Nye Video on Motion and forces.

Read Chapter 5 Section 1 and answer questions on the 2 worksheets. Finish for homework.

Speed Lab Returned

There were several students who did not complete the questions and the conclusion for the speed lab. These were returned to students who did not finish and the Lab Sheets are due tomorrow (10/28)for a late grade. Look for 2 green sheets.

Pop Quiz!

Today, students were given a worksheet to show how well they can calculate speed and interpret data on a speed graph. The Speed Labs were collected. If you were absent, turn yours in on Monday. Some students did not finish the quiz, they need to come to my room Monday Morning. Here's a pass for 8:30, but some of you can come in at 8:50 and still have time to finish.

This weekend, you should study Ch. 5 Section1- read that part of the book, learn the vocabulary, try the eactivities in the textbook online at my.hrw.com, username: eagle15  password:j3n3

Graphing Speed

Students have 2 green worksheets titled "Speed Challenge".  All questions on all sheets must be answered and turned in tomorrow, Friday, 10/24/08. Graph  your speed, answer the questions, and write a conclusion on the back. Be sure to follow directions on the sheet.

Speed lab day 2

Today, we calculated the average time and the speed of each motion. All questions on both sides of the green lab sheet need to be completed. Parents, please help your children with this simple math. They need to add the 3 times together and divide by 3 to get the average time. Then they need to use the speed formula S=d/t or m/s where the meter is the top dog(number) which goes in the dog house. For example, put 5 inside the box. Show your calculations.

Speed Lab

Today we started a lab testing the speed of various motions. Students hopped, skipped and speed walked a certain distance and recorded their times on a chart. Practice the eactivities in the textbook online for homework. Also, study the vocabulary for Chapter 5.

Graphing Speed

Read Ch. 5, pages 118-119. Graph the Speed of the Falling Dominoes from warm up #21. Be sure to include a title, label each axis. Put distance on the y-axis and time on the x-axis.

When you come back to class, be sure to show me your word problems from the "Formula Challenge" worksheet. That is a homework grade.

Speed Problems

Today, we practiced using the formula Speed = distance divided by time. Students read word problems and found speed, distance or time for each problem. Finish #1-16 on the worksheet given out today for homework.
