There will be a pop quiz on Numbers from Cero - Veinte. Spelling counts. Please be ready everyday. Today we complete number flash cards for practice.

Complete in-class Core Practice packet.

Brief overview of BODY PARTS.

TAREA: Keep studying your vocabulary from page 22 every night. You may print a copy of the vocabulary by going to the www.phschool.com.  Chose World Languages, Spanish, Realidades 1. Scroll down to "Repaso del capitulo", it is a PDF file, in each chapter, that is the vocabulary for the chapter.

Wednesday - miercoles

Overview of TIME, watch the "Quack" video and practice how to say ¡Salchichas!

Outline the  days of the week, months, etc.  We will complete a daily schedule.

TAREA:  NADA

Thursday - jueves

Complete a daily schedule with days of the week.

Overview of body parts.  We will draw a body outline and label  with Head and Shoulders, knees and toes.

TAREA:  Study your vocabulary from page 22 of the Textbook "Realidades".

 

 FRIDAY - viernes

Identify classroom items, draw and label the classroom floorplan.

Go over the Para Empezar Chapter (To start) and highlight what we know now.

TAREA: NADA

¡Hola!    8TH GRADE OPEN HOUSE THIS THURSDAY - AUGUST 25, 2011.

Great first week.  We are getting familiar with the Spanish Alphabet, numbers and all the countries where Spanish is spoken.

Monday - lunes

We have an alphabet quiz tomorrow.  Please practice the letters.  You may go to http://wwwphschool.com/home.html  for help, in the audio files of the Realidades Student Resources. Today we are doing activities to practice the alphabet and numbers. We will have another quiz on Spanish speaking countries this Friday and another quick quiz on Monday, August 29th about numbers.

TAREA: The Spanish Notebook is due tomorrow.  Study for the Alphabet quiz.

Tuesday - martes

Notebook check and Verbal quiz on the Alphabet. 

Scavenger Hunt around Realidades - Several instructions in order to get acquainted with our textbook

"REALIDADES - SPANISH I".

Wednesday - miércoles

España.  Introduction to the country, location, regions, official languages, etc.

Thursday - jueves                               OPEN HOUSE TONIGHT!

We would love to see all parents tonight at Open House, 6:30 p.m.  Please report to the Theater first, and meet our new Principal, Dr. Downs. Shortly after, please report to your student's Homeroom and follow his/her daily schedule.  All teachers will look forward to introducing their subjects and highlight their classroom objectives. ¡Hasta pronto!

Friday - viernes

 Quiz on the Spanish Speaking countries.  Please make sure you know how to spell the names of the countries in Spanish.  SPELLING COUNTS. Don't forget the tilde in España and the accents on some of the countries such as; Panamá, Perú, República Dominicana, México, etc.

¡Bienvenidos!  Welcome!

You were given your schedules today, please be patient for the next couple of days we are still levelling the classes and this may cause class changes.

Monday - lunes

Busca Amigos - We have a treasure hunt using popular Spanish words and start looking into what is a "Cognate".

Tuesday - martes

Use formal and informal greetings.  Role play with Rebecca and Jordan in Guadalajara.

TAREA:  Define "Cognate" in your own words.

Students were given a syllabus to take home today.  Please sign and return for credit.  We will start compiling a Spanish binder and everyone should have one by next week.

Wednesday - miércoles

We start activating prior knowledge of Spanish numbers.  We will have several activities on how to pronouce numbers in Spanish.  Our goal is to start from 0-20, next week we will go to 50. Hand out numbers resource and the alphabet.

TAREA: No tarea, just remember to bring the syllabus signed by a parent/guardian.

Thursday - jueves

Practice the Alphabet in Spanish- listening and verbal activities.

TAREA: No tarea.  Please remember to bring in a signed Syllabus.

Friday - viernes

Short video from Realidades (our textbook) on the Preliminary chapter.

TAREA: Set up your Spanish notebook.  Two dividers - 1) La Tarea 2) Notas (In Spanish, por favor)

Notebooks are due on Tuesday, August 23, 2011.

Study the alphabet - Oral quiz will also start on Tuesday, August 23rd.
