Science:  Today we continued learning about the Digestion System.  Students answer "organizer' questions thoroughly.

Social Studies: Study guides due Monday.  Reminder! Chapter 19 test Tuesday.

Science: Today we began a new unit of study - The Human Body Systems.  Students began working on the digestive system today. Students were also given a worksheet called "The Organ System Organizer and Notes"  that must be completed as we study each organ system.  This organizer will be used later to complete the "Organ Trail" project.  I have attached the "Organizer" at the bottom of this post if anyone needs a copy. 

Social Studies: Students received their Chapter 19 study guide today.  Study guides are due Monday 2-209 and the Chapter 19 test will be on the 20th.

Science: Students completed Cornell notes for Chapter 6 section 2.

Social Studies: Students learned about HIV/AIDS in Africa.  Students watched a video and completed an HIV/AIDS in Africa: Causes, Impacts, and Solutions.  Reminder ABC Books of Africa due Wednesday.

Science: Today students learned about how DNA is used today in science.

Social Studies : ABC Books are due Wednesday!

Science: Today students completed Cornell notes for sections 1 and 2.

Social Studies:  Students worked in the PC lab typing their ABC Books of Africa.  Students will complete books in lab tomorrow.

Don't forget early release all next week.  Conference Week!

Science: Today students took the Chapter 5 Test, and created a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting the Cell Cycle (Mitosis) and Meiosis.  Students then began Cornell notes for Chapter 6 section 1 and 2. Cornell notes are not homework!

Social Studies: Today students complete the worksheets for the ABC Book of Africa.  Tomorrow ABC  worksheets will be checked for a grade.  Students will type their final copies in the PC lab Thursday and Friday.  Final project is due Wednesday the 28th.

Science: Today students completed the karyotyping lab.  Reminder! The Chapter 5 is tomorrow. Please study.

Social Studies: Students continued to work on their "ABC Book of Africa".  "ABC" worksheets should be completed by Thursdays, so that the final copy can be typed in the PC lab.  We also watched the Presidental Inauguratioin.

Science: Yesterday students began a Karyotyping activity.  At the end of the activity students will identify their smear or case study as 1. normal male, 2 normal female, 3. Down syndrome male, 4. Down syndrome female, 5 Turner syndrome female - only one (x)sex chromosomes or 6 Klinefelter syndrome male with an extra X chromosome (xxy).  The kartotyping lab is due Tuesday.  Chapter 5 test- a change in plans.  I am going to move the test back to Wednesday, but please continue to study and prepare so you don't forget over the break.

Social Studies: Yesterday students began working on an ABC Book of Africa. Today students received information packets for the project.  Tuesday students will watch the Presidential Inauguration, Wednesday students will complete the "ABC" worksheets, then Thursday and Friday students will be allowed time to work in the PC lab to complete the project. 

Science: Today we reviewed section 3 of Chapter 5.  We will have a section 3 quiz Wednesday.  Tomorrow students will receive a study guide for the Chapter 5 test.  Reminder! Chapter 5 test is Friday.

Social Studies: Today we reviewed Sections 2 and 3 of Chapter 19. 

Science: Today students learned the basics of heredityand the tools used to study heredity.  Students copied a teacher made chart that showed the connections between all of the new vocabulary terms.  Students should study this chart to prepare for the quiz Friday. 

Social Studies:  Students work on the "Hot Spots" in Africa Map.  Reminder all Africa Scrapbooks are due Friday.
