6th Grade Homework: No Homework.I will have a guest speaker for my 6th grade students on Wednesday and Friday of this week. We went over the test (History of Europe Part 1) in class today. The test scores were all over the place w/ 9 students scoring an A or B and 20 students scoring a C, D or F. Please, note the students that really studied last weekend (noted on blog as homework) probably did well on the test. Students, the grading period just started, so you have time to pull your grade up but it does require some effort on your part. A new unit was started in class today and I've posted the standards that we will be studying over the next few days:
SS6H7 The student will explain conflict and change in Europe to the 21st century. a. Describe major developments following World War I: the Russian Revolution, the Treaty of Versailles, worldwide depression, and the rise of Nazism.b. Explain the impact of WWII in terms of the Holocaust, the origins of the Cold War, and the rise of Superpowers.c. Explain how the collapse of the Soviet Union led to the end of the Cold War and German reunification.
8th Grade Homework: PROJECT DUE THURSDAY NOVEMBER 3RD!
I've extended the deadline (hopefully, this will reduce the stress level) for the project to Thursday November 3rd. While no one event can be pointed to as the actual cause of the revolution, the war began as a disagreement over the way in which Great Britain treated the colonies versus the way the colonies felt they should be treated. Americans felt they deserved all the rights of Englishmen. The British, on the other hand, felt that the colonies were created to be used in the way that best suited the crown and parliament.

Project 2 (alternate assignment): Download Colonial Newspaper alternate assignment
I've posted a lot of links to help you with the research part (check the Project 2 link to assist you completing the project). Remember, explain what happened and why with each event. I will call you up one at a time while grading your work and randomly select 5 elements and have you explain them to me. Group work (work with a partner) only if you selected the newspaper. The alternate assignment is independent work ONLY!
Make sure you do a good job with this assignment!
