8th Grade Homework for Thursday 9-22-11: Read pages 110 - 119 in your textbook. A link to the textbook is posted below. Some students finished the reading assignment after the test today. It's important that you do the reading so you have some background knowledge to our next unit. Also, remember you have your first current event due next Monday 9/26/11.
8th Grade: students took a test today in class and I collected notebooks. The following is a list of standards included in our next unit:
SS8H2 The student will analyze the colonial period of Georgia’s history.
a. Explain the importance of James Oglethorpe, the Charter of 1732, reasons for settlement (charity, economics, and defense), Tomochichi, Mary Musgrove, and the city of Savannah.
b. Evaluate the Trustee Period of Georgia’s colonial history, emphasizing the role of the Salzburgers, Highland Scots, malcontents, and the Spanish threat from Florida.
c. Explain the development of Georgia as a royal colony with regard to land ownership, slavery, government, and the impact of the royal governors

The site visit due dates: October 17th, December 12th and April 16th. Let me know if you need another copy of the directions for the site visit and remember, make sure the place you visit has a museum.
