Wednesday

6th Grade Homework: complete entry #6 and 7.

Parents, I will share a social studies resource book with the kids tomorrow and would like for each child to purchase a copy for $5. The resource will be extremely valuable in assisting/preparing the kids for the social studies CRCT...Georgia Social Studies standards. Don't send money for the book right now because I will have additional information for the kids tomorrow. Students: make sure you can locate the political boundaries discussed in class today. Parents, please continue to monitor pinnacle for how your son/daughter is doing academically and check the back of the agenda for citations/discipline infractions. We have a large class (lots of kids) and the students need to use their time wisely. I have given some kids eagle card marks because I'm having to redirect them (constantly for some) to keep them on task.

8th Grade Homework: no homework tonight but you will have some homework assigned tomorrow. Today in class we went over the test (Unit 1 - 5 Regions of Ga.) given yesterday...GREAT JOB!!!

6th and 8th grade: no homework Tuesday night.

 

Monday

8th Grade Homework for Monday 8-29-11: Unit 1 (Chapter 1 ONLY) test is scheduled for tomorrow August 30th. Also, unit 1 notebook will be collected prior to the test #1-10. Don't worry about entry #9...we will do this after the test.

 6th Grade Homework for Monday 8-29-11: the quiz taken Friday was returned in class today and we went over the questions. Parents, I would like a signature on the quiz and returned with your child tomorrow. Also, I posted some links below that will assist the kids in learning the political boundaries and physical features of Europe. You should spend some time playing the games posted on the site related to the Europe geography.

8th Grade - no homework this weekend. I collected the tiered assignment (5 regions of Georgia) at the beginning of class today and the students took a quiz/almost there assessment. Unit 1 (Chapters 1 and 2) test is scheduled for Tuesday August 30th. Also the unit 1 notebook will be collected the same day as the test.

Reminder, make sure you include all the requirements. Also, study for your quiz tomorrow by reviewing assignment 3,4 and 5 in the notebook.

8th Grade: Friday - Quiz and tiered assignment due, Monday - review unit 1 (chapters 1 and 2) for the test, Tuesday Aug. 30th, Test covering chapters 1 and 2 and the notebook is due...all assignments completed.

Also, students should complete assignment #4 (label the countries of Europe). The students should look over/study notebook #1,2 and 3. Parents, students should have a social studies section in a three binder with two dividers: one labeled Leaning Log and the other labeled Notebook.

Happy Friday!

6th Grade: no homework this weekend. I look forward to meeting your parents Monday night. Students presented posters in class today and we reviewed the five strands of social studies.

8th Grade Homework: finish your essay. The writing assignment is due Monday 8-22-11 and please make sure to follow directions. My 8th graders learned how to analyze primary source documents and completed a lesson on Georgia's five regions.

What a long week! The first week of school always seems to be the longest.

 
 

Thursday

6th Grade: what an awesome day in class! I really appreciate all the participation that led to some terrific discussion and I hope you have a better understanding of the five strands of social studies. You should probably look over your guided notes taken in class today because it will help with tomorrow's lesson.
