Note to the parents regarding our study of the Seven Deadly Sins:
I have always covered these topics in my classroom and will continue to do so, because it is a part of our GPS. I generally explain what is meant by the "Seven Deadly Sins" and we list them. I give a very brief description of each by reading the legal definition of each of the seven crimes. I always encourage students to discuss any further questions they may have at home with their parents.
As you know, this is such a sensitive topic, I have found help this year. The State Bar Association of Georgia sends out an attorney to cover this in a workshop for our students. I was able to hear the discussion in a teacher workshop and felt that it was handled in a very straightforward and appropriate way. However, I completely understand your concerns. I am going to provide you with an e-mail address for my speaker, Deborah Craytor, in case you have any questions DeborahCC@gabar.org .
Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
